News Around The Club
We held our annual Christmas Party on Sunday, December 22nd. This year the turnout was disappointingly small, with only 20 members attending resulting in more food going in the dumpster than was consumed despite some food being taken home in take-out containers. Next year anticipate some form of sign-up.
Photos of the event can be viewed here.

Pistol
A date for a January pistol shoot had not been decided at publication time.
Skeet and Trap
Skeet is shooting on Wednesday evenings — 5 pm to 7 pm — in addition to Sundays. Trap will continue shooting on Saturday mornings only at this time as they have lost a couple of committee members and are looking to replace them before reviving Tuesday evenings.
Cowboy Action Shooting
Some of our Gunnysackers are escaping the New England winter and heading south for regional shoot. Thus, there will be no Cowboy matches until they return; hopefully to regale us with tales of daring do along the dusty trails.
Maggie's Drawers Skeet Shoot
Due to very cold weather, two rounds of Trap were shot for this event rather than the traditional two rounds of Lucky Target Skeet; a round of Trap taking only a few minutes rather than the 15-20 minutes per round for Skeet. Tom Mulloy was the "lucky" winner and was presented with Maggie's Drawers at the Christmas Party held later that day.

Clay Bird Delivery
We received a load of clay birds recently. The orders are delivered to Dave Glancy's business, then he brings the boxes to the club were a group of members unloads his pickup truck. Thanks to those who helped with the last load. Photos by Dave Glancy.
Quotes of the Month
"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. "
– Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776
"No law ever prevented a crime"
– Anonymous
“A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him 'Why do you carry a 45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46.'”
– Clint Smith, President and Director of Thunder Ranch
45th Annual KC's Game Feed
Mark your calendars now for Saturday, January 25th. This will be the day the 45th KC's Annual Game Feed is held. Started 45 years ago by Kenny Crowell, the Game Feed has been held continuously since then, with the exception of 2015 when the skeet field was waist deep in snow.
The event starts at 11:00 am and runs until 4:00 pm. Admission is $30/person, 18 years and under are free. Bring your appetite as there will be game such as venison, goose and duck plus a spit-roasted wild hogs that will be roasted at the club along with hamburgers and hotdogs. Additionally, there will be a Seafood Tent and Raw Bar for those with nautical tastes.
Lily's Craft Barbecue from Hull will also be in attendance this year with a delicious selection of their barbecued meats and sides. Lily's attended a Game Feed Committee meeting with samples from their menu and the Committee can assure you that they know what they are doing! 👍👍👍
There will be raffles for a variety of sporting goods, carvings and prints along with an auction of similar higher valued items. Youngsters are not left out as there will be supervised BB gun shooting to pop balloons on the 50-yard range plus hot dogs and hot chocolate to keep the little darlings warm and satiated.
During the afternoon there will be several blitz raffles for firearms. The firearms are sourced from The Sportsman's Den in Quincy. The proprietor, Ron Hidalgo, is super easy to work with and all firearms transfers will go though him after the event.

Mexico’s Government Wants to Bankrupt Your Freedom
by Frank Miniter, Editor in Chief, in America's 1st Freedom. Posted on December 12, 2024.
On March 4, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., et al. v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos. Specifically, the high court will consider whether American firearm manufacturers have to pay Mexico $10 billion on the theory that legally made and sold products in America—and not, for example, the narco-terrorist drug cartels in Mexico, the open border on the Mexican side or the cancerous corruption in Mexico—are responsible for harming Mexican citizens.
As the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) protects gun makers and sellers from exactly this type of frivolous legal attack, a court in Massachusetts dismissed it. But the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit reversed the dismissal. The U.S. Supreme Court then opted to hear the case.
“Mexico has extinguished its constitutional arms right and now seeks to extinguish America’s,” begins an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on this case from the NRA and the Independence Institute. “To that end, Mexico aims to destroy the American firearms industry financially.”
The NRA’s brief gets more specific when it says, “Mexico seeks to bankrupt the American firearms industry by holding lawful firearms manufacturers liable for violence committed by Mexican drug cartels in Mexico—despite alleging no affirmative misconduct by the manufacturers, intent of the manufacturers to facilitate violence, or concrete nexus between the manufacturers and the cartels.”
Indeed, without delivering any evidence of illegal conduct by American arms makers, Mexico is claiming that America’s firearms companies have engaged in a series of supposedly nefarious business practices for decades. For example, they allege that the very sale of semi-automatic rifles and the production of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds make these companies liable for criminal use of guns that were smuggled by gun runners into Mexico.
And Mexico doesn’t just want billions of dollars in damages—sums that would bankrupt American gun companies—as they’ve also argued that U.S. courts should impose new gun-control measures in the United States. To view the entire article, click here.
